you are very close to my revelation... one point I would like to make is the possessive pronoun that you changed which I believe is at the heart of the statement the man that you call Jesus said... that being, it seems to me that you interject yourself as the person speaking when you refer to the state "least of these MY brothers". The possessive pronoun is referring to the least of these HIS brothers, not your brothers. He has already said who the least of these are. As I see it, we are left no room for interpretation, The least of these are HIS brothers. We owe them this respect for if we lift up the least among us, we all rise, if we lift up those who are already on top then we stand on the heads of the least of these, the ones who are already down and now will never rise because we are standing on their necks. Your other error is that you assume a zero sum game. That is that you cannot help the least of these without harming your children or the ones that you love. That is as far from the truth as Satan is from God. By helping others you do not impoverish yourself, you can many times become richer in spirit and in worldly wealth. Only, Satan could put such rubbish in the mind of an economist. Wake up!

I found this page for one reason only; I had your same experience, so I looked the subject up on my computer. Recently my husband and I were at the beach at low tide, exploring exposed marine life, and the stench in one area was very bad; smelling more like sewage than dead marine life. Hours later the smell was still with me,.....everywhere I went. Arriving home I smelled our clothing, shoes, hair, etc and could not find the source of the odor, which I was still smelling. The next morning it was gone, and I woke up with an idea and shared it with my husband: what if the smell was stuck in my mind, just like songs can get stuck in one's mind?? I decided to look it up on the computer! And there you were!

That isn't exactly what happened.

1 bishop who was a legitimate RCC bishop founded splinter group from the RCC. In this group, he ordained 4 more guys. When he did this, he (and them) were officially excommunicated because they didn't follow Apostolic succession through the Papacy.

All Ben XVI did was to un-excommunicate them from participation as regular catholics. He did NOT install them as bishops in the RCC and they are not official RCC Bishop (and maybe not even priests). Their ordained faculties haven't been returned to them. All that was done was that AFTER a proper reconciliation they would be welcome to receive the sacraments. They are NOT to act as bishops of the RCC.

2 of these guys have said some wacky stuff, but they are not representatives of the RCC (or at least NOT as bishops). They are just ordinary members of the RCC and are free to receive the Sacraments. The media doesn't understand how excommunication or ordination works, so relying on them for accurate info on this is risky at best.

I am working on a good catholic resource that explains this better. Ck

Dan,
Great Blog. I totally and completely agree. Market and money worship is a very real religion in our time. Between this one and the flat screen one, great stuff. Ck

Oh my gosh,
I went out the other night with two of my friends who smoke. Well, its been about a week and a half and i have the smell of smoke stuck in my nose. I have washed and washed my hair , Ive done the sini cleanser and still no help. I am a full blown asthmatic and sometimes it gets so strong my eyes burn and I have now started to wees. Its truly making me sick. I'm starting to get headaches as well, and it is driving me crazy. Its like a song stuck but its a sent instead (why couldnt it be the smell of stawberries) I have experienced this once before but it went away after about a day or so. This time the smell has been stuck ever since I went out that night. My fear is that everytime I pass someone on the street my brain reconizes that smell and it just continues to play the sent over and over in my head. Whats going to trigger this? Am I just going live like this? Oh god i hope not. I'm truly thinking about hypnoses. To be honest I thought I was going to have to go to the crazy house. I'm glad im not the only weird-o out there. I will try the treadmill and I hope that works. If you have any other suggestions PLEASE e-mail me.
sincerely, Vanessa Waudby

That one goes to Mass purely to get something out of it is part of our consumerist culture, but not the reason people should be going to Mass. Mass is communal worship where we give to God. I would say that those who weigh attendance against what they will gain from it are starting from the wrong point of view.

The expectation that we will get something out of Mass each and every time will lead to disappointment sooner or later. The point is that it is not about me, but about God and the community. Perhaps this week's homily stokes the fire within me, but not someone else and vice versa next week. That's just the way it is. However, if we truly put our all into worship of God and know that it is about God and not us then we've done our job.

What we can gain from it is a chance to soak up the Gospel and figure out how to live that out until next Sunday. If one is willing to break out of their shell than they can meet new people too. There are all sorts of things people can "get" from going to Mass.

That's an interesting decline in Christian Education Enrollment from 2005 to 2006. What happened?
